The castle of King Carol I
Peleș was built for King Carol I, the first king of Romania, and was inaugurated in 1883. It became the royal family’s summer residence, at the foot of the Bucegi.
Today it is a museum. The halls preserve the original furniture, arms collections, paintings and stained glass, while the carved wood on the walls and ceilings gives every room a character all its own.
