The Rhein Cellars in Azuga, sparkling wine of the Royal House

Founded in 1892 by Wilhelm Rhein at the request of King Carol I, the cellars have been making sparkling wine by the traditional method, like champagne, for more than a century. Rhein Extra became supplier to the Royal House, and the visit takes you through the cellars and the museum, all the way to the tasting glass.

For groups who wish to explore the local wine culture, we arrange private visits to well-known wineries in Dealu Mare, the most renowned wine region in Prahova. Transport is provided in our minibus, and there a selection of premium wines awaits you, with snacks and stories from the cellar.

Which is the nearest winery?+
The Rhein Cellars (Pivnițele Rhein) in Azuga, about 10 minutes from the villas. Sparkling wine has been made here using the traditional method since 1892.
What will we see at the Rhein Cellars?+
The historic cellars, the museum dedicated to sparkling wine and the tasting room, where Rhein sparkling wines are served with cheeses and fruit. The cellars also have a restaurant with a royal menu.
Can we also visit wineries in Dealu Mare?+
Yes. For groups, we arrange private visits to wineries in Dealu Mare, with transport in our minibus. The drive takes about 1 h 30, so it is a full-day outing.
