The house where Enescu spent his summers
George Enescu built Vila Luminiș between 1923 and 1926 on Cumpătu hill, overlooking the Prahova Valley and the Bucegi Mountains. The house was designed by the architect Radu Dudescu.
Here the composer spent his summers and worked, among other things, on the opera Oedipe, his masterpiece. Today the street bears the name of Yehudi Menuhin, Enescu’s most famous pupil.
The villa became a museum in 1995 and since 2007 has been part of the George Enescu National Museum. Opening hours and tickets are on georgeenescu.ro.
